Dr. Mark Wichman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in sports medicine and joint preservation. He is widely recognized for his expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques and his commitment to helping patients of all activity levels return to peak performance.

Dr. Wichman earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University. He further specialized in sports medicine through a fellowship at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute.

In his current role at Aurora Advanced Healthcare, Dr. Wichman provides comprehensive orthopedic care to patients across Southeast Wisconsin. He is a trusted team physician for the Milwaukee Admirals, and he has served in academic teaching roles at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University.

Dr. Wichman brings a personalized, patient-centered approach to orthopedic care—emphasizing clear communication, evidence-based decision-making, and an emphasis on non-surgical treatments when appropriate. Dr. Matthew Wichman is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with nearly two decades of experience in sports medicine, joint preservation, and minimally invasive surgery. Known for his patient-first approach and strong communication, Dr. Wichman is dedicated to helping individuals return to the activities they love—whether that’s elite athletics or everyday movement.

He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University. He went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine at the Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group in California.

Dr. Wichman currently practices at Aurora Advanced Healthcare and is affiliated with Aurora Medical Center–Grafton and Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center. His clinical focus includes knee and shoulder injuries, joint preservation techniques, and evidence-based conservative treatment strategies. He is particularly passionate about patient education, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their musculoskeletal health.
